Sturdy, versatile, and very easy to use.
Extremely solid construction, will handle any SLR camera with telephoto lenses. Pans smoothly, and will lock in any position. Has rubber feet that screw in to expose spikes, and easy to use flip style leg locks. It weighs under 5lbs, and fits nicely into a 27" x 6" padded tripod bag. I really like the Giottos bag. Would work for any video camera that weighs 15 lbs or less.

Solid, Dual-Purpose Tripod
I recently purchased this model to serve for both still and video photography. I am very pleased with the tripod after a few weeks of use. It's very sturdy, all metal and easily locks with the legs at any length. The head has a dampened effect on the pan and tilt which is great for video use and easily adjusts and locks in any position for still photography.
There is also an adjustment for the friction on the center column so that it can be adjusted to the weight of your camera to allow it to be gently lowered without unexpectedly dropping to the bottom position.
While this would not be my first choice for traveling due to it's size and weight, it's a sturdy and versatile tripod for general video and still photography.

Super tripod
This is one beautiful tripod. All metal and a great height for me as I am tall. Easy to adjust, smooth fluid operation. Also, you can flip the camera 90 degrees while still mounted to go from landscape to portrait position. Quick release and 360 degree level. I love it.

great tripod
I bought this tripod locally (needed right away). It is all metal and very stable. The champagne finish is beautiful.
VERY SMOOTH compared to the cheaper Velbon models - I say go for it.
Amazon is thirti dollars less than I paid - good price.
