Best of Van Halen, Vol. 1
:Album Description:Japanese pressing of Van Halen's single disc Best Of Vol. 1 (originally released in 1996) featuring one bonus track: 'Hot For Teacher'. This was the compilation that essentially brought Van Halen to a close when the band drafted in original vocalist David Lee Roth to record two new tracks. This reunion was short-lived but it was enough to anger then-current vocalist Sammy Hagar into leaving the band. Hagar did tour with the band in 2004, but they've never recovered from the firestorm that this release sparked! 18 tracks. Warner. 2007. ...

Van Halen
:Album Description:2008 reissue of Van Halen's self-titled debut album released in 1978. It is considered to be one of the most famous debut albums. The album has sold over ten million copies in the United States alone and it is considered to be one of the most successful debuts by a hard rock band. Along with 1984, it gives Van Halen two original (not a greatest hits) albums with Diamond status in sales -- a feat achieved by only four other rock bands: The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Def ...

The Best of Both Worlds
:Album Description:Van Halen rocketed to stardom with their raucous, 10X-platinum-plus 1978 self-titled album, one of the greatest debuts ever. Anchored by Eddie Van Halen’s guitar wizardry and David Lee Roth's vocal showmanship, the band's dynamic sound reinvented hard rock. A run of multiplatinum Top 10 discs followed, peaking with 1984, another 10X-platinum blockbuster and Roth's swan song. Sammy Hagar replaced the vocalist, a transition that cost the band no momentum. The Red Rocker's VH debut, 1986's 5150 , hit #1 on The Billboard 200, as did 1988's OU812. The Grammy-winning 1991 ...

1984
:Album Description:Limited Edition Japanese pressing of this album comes housed in a miniature LP sleeve. 2008. essential recording:1984 was a successful record not only because it contained solid, catchy hard rock, but also because it incorporated synthesizers into the mix, the first metal album to do so to any serious extent. Although the advances in electronic music make this material sound dated now, it's still a highlight of Van Halen's career. Songs like 'Jump' contain a pop element that gave 1984 mainstream appeal, and David Lee Roth turned the frontman ...

5150
: essential recording:As original Van Halen vocalist David Lee Roth quit the band to pursue a solo career, or was fired (depending on who you believe), Eddie and Alex Van Halen and Michael Anthony carried on by hiring Sammy Hagar. Hagar was a middling artist on his own, but he proved to be a powerhouse when placed in front of hard rock's most muscular and innovative instrumental unit. On 5150--the title is police code for 'escaped lunatic'--you can hear the band's excitement at having struck a winning combination. Songs such as ...

OU812
: :Having proven its Sammy Hagar-led lineup a success with 5150, Van Halen followed that effort with OU812, an album that, despite its cheesy title, is every bit its predecessor's equal, burning with balls-to-the-walls hard rock that never leaves its pop sensibility far behind. From the sweeping power ballad 'When It's Love' and the full-on rocker 'Finish What Ya Started,' to the stringbending showcases 'A.F.U. (Naturally Wired)' and 'Cabo Wabo' and even an uncharacteristic cover (of Little Feat's 'A Apolitical Blues'), Eddie, Alex, Michael, and Sammy play with abandon and a palpable ...
