Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Works great
This works great, it came with a power cord too, which is useful if your trying to access stuff from a PC harddrive thats not in a pc. Fits laptop and pc harddrives via an adapter. No problems at all.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wow! Did the job for me.
I thought all the data on my USB external drive was toast. On a hunch, I ripped open the casing (I practically needed a chisel) and found an IDE drive inside. Commercial data recovery is both expensive and non-secure, so I thought it would be worth $30 to see if this drive had any life left in it.

The kit comes with the adapter for two different kinds of drives (not SATA) and a power supply that plugs right into the back of your drive. I wasn't expecting much, but my Win XP machine recognized the drive right away and I was able to recover all the data. I am very pleased with this bit of tech.

As others have noted, this device will not win any awards for design or robust construction, but it did the job for me. I can see where people getting rid of old computers might want to keep the old drives in case there is some data they might need and didn't copy over.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - doesnt work
I bought this product but it really didnt worked for me. Dont knw what happend, but I swapped the usb to ide attachment with my friend and it worked for both us for few days. then it completly stopped working. i wud suggest to spend $10 more and get something reliable than to waste time on this.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Oh yeah!!!
Purchased this at the same time as an external hard drive/CD/DVD enclosure. While it is attractive & does the same thing as this...it is unable to be used for the smaller 2.5 inch drives on laptops. Once I read the directions & hooked it up...I was able to use it with my Asus Eee laptop. If I come across a cheap 2.5 inch hard drive...will use this to set it up on the Eee.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Worked for me
I did a little research but was still not confident if this was the right cable for me. It worked! My old laptop crashed on a spark of static electricity. After I pried the hard drive out of it, I was able to connect the cable and plug it into my new machine to transfer my files.
This cable really saved the day for all my photographs and audio files.
