Fay killed my UPS
I live in Florida (lightning capital of the US) and recently tropical storm Fay dropped a lot of rain on us. The power went out several times due to flooding and downed power lines and eventually caused my Tripplite UPS to stop functioning. A small price to pay since it was protecting my plasma tv and cable box. I ordered the Ultra as a replacement. It arrived on time and works reliably.

I purchased this product for my father to deal with outages/brownouts. Anyone running a raid configuration will know losing power leads to annoying hour long reverfiys of the drives data. With write caching enabled a power outage can mean a complete loss of all data not cached... This device has saved many headaches on multiple ocassions.

Good for what it is
This type of unit is superior at stopping those annoying brown outs that don't really take your power down but they make the power "blink" just long enough to force your computer(s) to reboot. If the power completely goes out it also gives you enough time to save documents and turn off your computer but don't expect to fire this thing up during a hurricane and play games for hours. I'd say it lasts 5-20 minutes under typical loads.

UPS 1000VA AVR Backup System ULT31502
This it by far the best backup battery I've purchased for my money. i have 4 pentium3 computers (without monitors)running upto 5 min. That gives me plenty of time to go to my basement & flip the circuit breakers on. a must for every computer user.
