Amazon.com:The innate connection between twins is a strange but very real phenomenon, so it's no surprise that when 21-year old twins Camryn (Tamera Mowry) and Alex (Tia Mowry) bump into one other in a clothing shop, they feel an instant connection with one another even though they were separated at birth. What is a surprise is that the two girls are really powerful witches from another dimension who were spirited away to escape the destructive force known as the 'Darkness.' Kept safe for the last 21 years by two quirky protectors Karsh and Ileana, the girls are now destined to combine their respective gifts of sight and knowing with their newly discovered magical powers in order to save their own mother and her entire dimension from the invading Darkness. The biggest difficulties for the girls prove to be learning to trust in themselves and their powers, agreeing upon their combined role in the fight, and focusing their powers against the Darkness. Great, with wonderful adoption messages!
It's about (AA) twins separated at birth and adopted by different families (one a single mom, one a wealthy black couple). Anyway, it's take on adoption was FANTASTIC in my opinion. It's a fictional story with magic and other dimensions. Here's what I liked about the adoption angle:
- The twins call their first mom and adoptive moms all "mom".
- One adoptive mom tells her daughter that she should NOT be worried about hurting her feelings to search for her biological mom.
- The "birthmom" word is only used once in the whole movie, to distinguish explicitly, or for anyone who doesn't "get it".
- The adoptive mom has a concept that love is infinite and you can always make more. Just because her daughter wants to give some love to someone else, it doesn't take any away from her adoptive mom at all.
- In the end "love" is what makes the "darkness" go away - love for all kinds of family.
- At one point the first mom and adoptive parents are all together, loving up the daughter like it was normal.
And there are white brothers of black men, and white best friends of black young ladies, and rich wealthy black people with porsches, and black queens/princesses of a land, etc. etc. Of the black / white brothers, guess which one was evil?? The WHITE one! Although the evil force was still called the "darkness".
Many cool things about it - even if it's a bit silly and goofy on occasion.
There is a sequel, but I haven't watched it yet.
Enjoy!

Not the stereotypical witches
The Mowry sister changed the stereotype of a witch forever. They were incredibly funny and talented. Family fun!!!
