Rating: - Easy, basic internet suite
I was apprehensive to install this because of having issues with other products of this type, but after looking up reviews on the net this looked to be one of the best (3 1/2 stars at cnet.com), so I thought I'd give it a try. I wanted just a basic and easy to install package and this seemed to be it. This is my first time with a Trend Micro product.

I had no install problems and I'm using Windows XP on an HP Laptop and use the Firefox browser. I haven't noticed the computer running any slower since installing this.

So far I have had no issues so would recommend this product for someone looking for something basic.

I work for a technology company. This is the brand my employer uses, and our techs all rave about how good a job it does.

Rating: - Useful Program
I've liked their products in the past and do think they're generally much less resource intensive than many of their competitors.

The interfaces are good and useful for a basic user, but on the other hand if that's the target customer they do need to make sure it all works as they promise, since basic users don't have the resources or patience to really fully test it all out. I've not done in depth testing on the parental controls but that seems to uniformly be an issue in comments and reviews I've seen. Not everyone needs those, though if you don't you may want a more basic anti-virus/security edition since that feature may just clutter it up when unneeded.

The pricing/renewal also bears some consideration. All these suites seem to be getting more and more costly, especially as they pile in more features and options, so you need to evaluate carefully how well what you should be getting all works relative to price, though of course it has to work well to be considered at all.

There are some tech review sites that really put all this stuff through the paces, so to some extent it pays to look there to figure out what best suits your needs.

Rating: - Not really sure how to review
I guess unless I have a problem, it's doing it's job. Easy to install, no measured difference in PC performance, it seems fine. I guess this is more of a time-will-tell thing. I will update if there are any significant developments either way.

Rating: - So far, so good....
First, a little background:
I had been using Trend Micro for the past three years and had decided to try another product. I found TM to be too resource intensive, bogging down my system. It also let a trojan infect my PC in the spring and I had to use another product to detect and remove it. Neither strong selling points for renewing my subscription.

The Amazon Vine offered the new, streamlined TM offering a few weeks after I had switched to another product. It had been getting very good reviews, effective, less resource hungry etc. so I decided to give it another try.

The install was effortless (be aware, Trend Micro does NOT play well with many other AV/Anti-spyware products), updates to the source engine and virus database downloaded without a hitch. The interface is slightly streamlined from the earlier incarnation and set-up was fairly easy.

I have not noticed a marked improvement in boot-up time (the box claimed up to a 40% improvement I believe), sadly I had uninstalled my old version some weeks before, so I was unable to do a side-by-side comparison. There does seem to be some minor improvement on system drag however, I'm not seeing the periodic 60-80% CPU drain that I was seeing before.

It's only been a few weeks so far, and I have had no issues yet. There are many other other AV products available, ranging from free to quite expensive. Testing done by PCMagazine shows that they all do a pretty good job protecting your computer and price does not necessarily indicate effeciveness (check out their website for details).

So, do I recommend Trend Micro? So far, yes, with minor reservations.

If you're not comfortable messing around with your computer and want a one-stop product for protection, TM is a good choice.
If you are more comfortable, there are other, less expensive products that you may want to look into.

As far as my experience, time will tell how well it will work for me. I will provide updates as experience warrents.

No matter what product you choose, PLEASE be sure to protect your system with some firewall/AntiVirus product.
