Perfect for Homemade Baby Food!
If you make your own baby food, silicone is the way to go! I started making prune puree for my daughter and I bought both silicone trays and standard "twist and pop" trays to try out. I simply could NOT get the prunes out of the plastic tray, no matter how much I twisted, turned, grunted, and grumbled, but all I had to do with these was bend the tray and poke the back with one finger and out popped the cube. Like most ice cube trays, each opening is 1 oz exactly (I checked with a measuring cup and water), so you can portion the food precisely.
I don't know about making ice in these, as I haven't tried it. You WILL need to have a flat surface in your freezer that can accommodate the tray, and you will want to cover with plastic wrap before you stack to avoid freezing one tray to the other, but those are simple requirements to meet.

Ice Cube Tray easy to pop out
I've been using these trays to freeze cubes of pureed baby food. They work great for the purpose. Just pop out a cube when the baby is hungry!

Just what I was looking for
These ice cube trays are perfect for what I wanted: a durable reusable tray to make ice cubes, ice cubes that are not trapped in their slots, ice cubes that stay whole when removed. I am not a heavy ice user, so I just grab two ice cubes at a time out of these which suits me fine. It's better than all the twisting and cracking of the traditional plastic trays where too many times my extra cubes would pop out and runaway and get wasted. I didn't experience the silicone taste other raters have mentioned. I'm impressed with the quality, and shape of the long lasting ice I made with these.

Tovolo Ice Cube Trays
I recently purchased these ice trays and I love them. They give you the perfect square ice cube and the ice cubes come out easily, no more trying to bend them and hit them to get them out. They come right out. I have been complimented on them and I have a few family members that are now going to order these trays. They are worth every penny.

Awful taste
These do produce a good shaped cube as advertised, but the taste of silicone on the ice is so disgusting I can no longer use these - do not buy unless you enjoy the taste of silicone
