Today is the Day
Today is the Day is not the typical Brewster CD. Lincoln Brewster is one of the great Christian guitarist! He expanded his sound to included a wider variety of styles from the past. Lincoln's solos are a blend of Clapton (Let Your Glory Shine and The Arms Of My Savior), and one solo sounds very similar to Stevie R. Vaughn style. There's a hint of a Becker Brother's horn riff in Give Him Praise. One great CD even if you're not a guitarist. Everywhere I Go is another solid hit. Today is the Day was the debut song for this CD... it will peak somewhere in the top ten.
"God You Reign" is one of the bluesy worship songs on this CD with an obvious Eric Clapton (slow hand) type guitar solo at the end. I haven't had time to learn the song yet, but after my first listen the Chords for the verse: D Em and it repeats... Chorus: G Bm A G D. A good melodic worship/ sing along song similar to his earlier song Surrender. Lincoln uses a similar riff on two songs on this CD. This is only a rough draft in TAB:
God You Reign Riff >>>>>>>>> & The Power of Your Name Riff

Great guitar work!
I won't repeat what's already been said below, but I'd like to add: AWESOME guitar work! Linc does some very interesting things tonally and rhythmatically throughout the album. Just when you think you know where the chord progression is going, he takes the tune in another direction. Loved it!

AWESOME Worship CD!!!
Since receiving this CD the day it came out it's been in my CD player on 'repeat'!
And you know how the Holy Spirit works... bringing to mind scripture or song when you need it... the title track is my favorite... but we've been singing it in church for a few months now, a real focus in on Jesus-God to start the day! But also Lincoln's rendition of "Salvation is Here" comes to mind when satan throws one of his darts through-out the day "And I don't care what the world throws at me now, I'm gonna be alright!" My third favorite is again bringing my focus to God in "God You Reign" - so descriptive with "You paint the night, You count the stars and You call them by name, The skies proclaim, God, YOU reign..." And often times the phrase "Give Him Praise, un, uh, un, un, uh!" gets stuck in your head and reminds you (me) to praise Him.
Though I prefer the peppy, energetic songs the best, the entire cd is a nice balance of pep & mellow. I have a little friend with cancer (Please send up a prayer for her!) and I gave her the CD just for those days she needs a pick-up and renewed hope in Our God so awesome, loving, and powerful healer, the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Solid Vertical Worship Album
I've enjoyed Lincoln Brewster for many years and have been led by him in worship at Creation East twice and found his passion and musicianship very engaging, particularly on some of his biggest hit songs The Power Of Your Love, Let The Praises Ring, Everlasting God and Love The Lord, all of which have been staples in corporate worship at my church for many years. His songs tend to be vertical worship with biblical lyrics and with nice melodic hooks similar to Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman and Tim Hughes.
Today Is The Day is no exception to past quality work by Lincoln Brewster and will certainly add a couple more songs to corporate worship, in particular the hook-filled and biblical title song and the great cover of the Hillsong classic Salvation Is Here. As others have said, the musicianship and guitar playing really stands out on this album most of all. Everywhere I Go and Give Him Praise are prime examples where you can get lost in the nice melodies and guitar playing. For me, the stand-out songs which keep me coming back are the excellent God You Reign, which I can best describe as Hillsong meets Jeff Healey Band along with my favorite song The Power Of Your Name, sung with Darlene Zschech of Hillsong. I had to immediately replay the latter song as it is a must-have track on this solid vertical worship album by Lincoln Brewster. For me, this album is 4 out of 5 stars.
