Box of Pearls: The Janis Joplin Collection

by: Janis Joplin

: :Janis Joplin was one of the most exhilarating performers of an era blessed with riveting stage artists, but all but her most emphatic champions must concede her recorded oeuvre is problematic. With Big Brother & the Holding Company she was surrounded by up-from-the-streets cohorts who were spiritually attuned to Joplin, even if they weren't always musically in tune. After one rushed, premature effort for the Mainstream label, Big Brother hit the top of the charts with one of the touchstones of the San Francisco sound, Cheap Thrills. Barraged by critics who ...

Housed in a digi-book with liner notes. 2002. :In an art form characterized from its earliest days by sexually charged imagery, rebellious abandon, a fickle sense of fashion, and often disposable musical fluff, Antoine 'Fats' Domino embodied none of the above. Long revered as one of the founding fathers of rock & roll, Domino scored nearly three dozen Top 40 hits from 1955 to 1963. ...

Love Story 1966-1972

by: Love

: :Love was the Los Angeles psychedelic band of the '60s. Indeed, rivals the Doors wanted to be Love, and the Rolling Stones stole more than a few ideas from their trippier moments. Led by Arthur Lee and (during their finest years) ex-Byrds roadie Bryan MacLean, Love ran the musical gamut from proto-punk ('7 and 7 Is') to lushly orchestrated pop ('Alone Again Or') and released one of rock's true masterpieces, 1967's Forever Changes. This two-CD collection brings together many of the band's best moments, beginning with their 1966 hit 'My Little ...

Usually we're fans of Logitech's gaming mice, but its highest-end G9 Laser Mouse is expensive, overly complex, and lacks the ergonomic thought we've come to expect. If you like to brag about dot-per-inch limits, perhaps the G9's 3,200dpi laser will be enough to sell you, but for the price, we expect the design to match.

While compact and convenient, Panasonic's SD-based SDR-S150 camcorder doesn't make the quality cut.
