Deluxe longbox digibook. 2002. :Like the prog-rock movement that spawned them, the band name Yes was only supposed to be temporary. But Yes have long outlived prog, spanning five decades, some 14 members, and, at one point, essentially two separate outfits on opposite sides of the Atlantic. ...

The Stiff Records Box Set

by: Various Artists

: :Understand from the get-go that label retrospectives are spotty affairs. Rare is the label that's free of stiffs, and Stiff Records' raison d'état was to serve as a refuge for castoffs, including a fair share of flaccid acts. The off-center likes of Nick Lowe (having recently fleed the misbegotten Brinsley Schwarz), Ian Dury, Wreckless Eric, Larry Wallis, and a very young Elvis Costello found a home with Stiff in the '70s. It wasn't a punk label, though it boasted the Damned; it wasn't a ska imprint, though Madness and Desmond Dekker ...

Those Were the Days

by: Cream

:Album Description:Specially repackaged 2008 edition of this four CD box set consisting of 63 tracks that divide Cream's short but immensely influential career into two halves. The first two discs feature every studio track the group ever released, plus a handful of unreleased tracks, alternate takes and rarities. The other two discs are devoted to restored live material, which bring to life some of Cream's finest eclectic moments in concert such as Live At Winterland in San Francisco 1968. The power trio of guitarist Eric Clapton, bassist Jack Bruce and drummer ...

Janis

by: Janis Joplin

:Album Description:Limited Edition Japanese pressing of this album comes housed in a miniature LP sleeve. 2008. :A host of contradictions--the insufficiency of her collaborators, the spectacular potential of her voice, the inconsistency of her efforts--have left Joplin's historical legacy a tangled mess. The new 3 CD box set, Janis, captures that mess in all its glory but does little to untangle it. Typical of compiler Bob Irwin's decisions was his choice to replace the familiar version of George Gershwin's 'Summertime' from the 'Cheap Thrills' album by a weaker but unreleased alternate ...

Long Train Runnin': 1970-2000

by: The Doobie Brothers

: :One would be hard-pressed to find a band more perfectly symbolic of the good-times politics-be-damned esprit de cannabis that symbolized a good chunk of 70's rock. While the Beach Boys were busy becoming an anachronism, the Doobs effectively took their mantle, fusing an array of musical Americana--be it blues, country, folk, or gospel (they saved jazz and funk for their Michael McDonald-fronted incarnation)--into a remarkably popular string of albums and radio hits by simply asking not much more of us than to 'Listen to the Music.' And if they didn't get ...

Usually we're fans of Logitech's gaming mice, but its highest-end G9 Laser Mouse is expensive, overly complex, and lacks the ergonomic thought we've come to expect. If you like to brag about dot-per-inch limits, perhaps the G9's 3,200dpi laser will be enough to sell you, but for the price, we expect the design to match.

While compact and convenient, Panasonic's SD-based SDR-S150 camcorder doesn't make the quality cut.
