The Truth About Beauty
The information in this book is excellent and very well organized. I have been searching for answers as to why my skin was so unhealthy and this book goes straight to the heart of the matter. I only wish I had read it sooner. As far as the quality of the book, the cover barely had any glue and came right off after I got it. I will have to take it somewhere to have it rebound/glued together, so I am not sure I want to order anymore books without seeing how well it is made first. It was a new book from Amazon, not a used one or a discount purchase.

I tried this
I bought Kat James' book last January and spent the winter reading it then researching the information and the products suggested. In April I started implementing a low-glycemic diet. I really didn't use the recipes or the menu plans but I used the foods items recommended to replace what I was eating - mainly what I could find locally. I also got a shower filter and switched to using all natural bath & beauty products.
I had a headache for the first 4-5 days, withdrawal from sugar & processed foods. About month later I realized that I hadn't had a headache of any kind in a while and the dull ache in my back quit hurting. Used to have a mild case of eczema on my face & neck, that is now gone. i was not overweight to start, most people called me slim, but I still lost 10 pounds without exercising, I got down near my high school weight.
I've been a food label reader for years, mostly stuck with low-fat foods. I no longer buy low-fat, I eat more fat than I did before, just better fats. I also learned to do more of my own health research, and now ask my doctors for more information about test results. Because Kat's book empowered me, I am taking more responsibility for my health issues and seeing improvements. Doctors are not trained in nutrition, and the right kinds of food can improve our quality of life.
If you're tired of relying on doctors and feeling like crap, give this book a try, you will find something that works for you if you truly want to.

Not for Weight Loss but Good Information
I have read this book several times and even did the Kat James Total Transformation Mastery program this summer. After trying Kat James' plan for 4 months, I realized this is NOT a weight loss plan. I agree with almost all of her ideas except the "you do not have to watch calories or fat" idea. This is just dead wrong. If you start her plan and are obese or overweight, you will most likely lose weight on this plan. This is because you are going to be dramatically changing your diet to cut out all processed foods, fast foods, and all sugar. By doing this, you will be dramatically reducing your calories without even realizing it. I started this plan at 129 lbs (I am 5'4). Now, of course this is not overweight, but I was really looking for a way to reduce body fat as the books says you will be burning fat "like rocket fuel". This is not the way. I actually gained 6 lbs. while trying this plan over 4 months. I had stopped working out, as her plan says you really do not need to do so. I am very disciplined and followed her plan very strictly. During her mastery program, after I dicussed my concerns, she wanted me to tweak my diet to eliminate ALL sugar and starch foods that could still be "spiking" me. The only foods left were blueberries and half and half!!! Thus, I would not be eating the foods she says you can eat in her book, so the book can be misleading. So, after eliminating these foods, I basically was going to be on the Atkins Plan! So, I decided to drop using her plan for weight loss and went back to Weight Watchers. I think it is a physical impossibility to lose weight without watching calories. This is straight physics and any reputable doctor, dietician, fitness guru, etc. agrees with this philosophy. I am living proof of this as I gained weight on this plan. Kat would disagree but she has failed to prove otherwise.
She also recommend many many supplements. She lives for them. I agree supplements can be beneficial, but the amount I was taking on her plan was ridiculous and expensive. I have cut most of them out. They weren't doing much good anyway.
Now the good things. I like her ideas. She recommends eliminating all unhealthy processed food and recommends cutting out sugar. I agree with all this. I agree with using all natural hair, skin, cleaning products as well. Some supplements are beneficial. Again, if you are looking for a weight loss plan, you may want to rethink this unless your goal is just to drop some but not all of your weight. This book will teach you some great new ideas of how to eat and live. Again, not a weight loss book (I do not think she promotes it as a weight loss book), but worth reading.

Very poor quality
I'm a librarian and I know the quality of binding for books is not what it used to be, but this book hits a new low. We bought 21 copies of this title for our system. After just a few months, at least 7 copies have fallen apart, and some of those copies had only been checked out once. The publisher should be ashamed. Buyer beware!

It's falling apart!
The resource section in this book is worth the price alone.
This book is great. It's basically advocating a low carb/low glycemic diet to control cravings and get the nutrition your body needs to be healthy.
I have only had this book a few days and it is already falling apart!!! It seems essentially there is no glue holding the pages in.
I think the book is defective, as I've never had a book fall apart like that and I've got hundreds of books!
