Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Groundhog Day
Spore is like the movie Groundhog Day. It's an endless repeat of your prior efforts. The game can be summed up in a single sentence:

"Spore is a endless effort in frustration."

Yes, the paranoid 3 activation limit and DRM is crap. But even if this game didn't have that, it would still be a 1 out of 5 rated game. You just never accomplish anything during this game and are stuck in an endless cycle of repetitiveness. There's just no fun to be had with this game and that's too bad, because it could have been so much more.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Bought as a gift
I bought this gift for my daughter who loves all "Sims" games. She can't stop, says it is addictive fun but relaxing creating your own world.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Good for laughs and relaxing
Before I ordered this game I was looking around trying to find some reviews to give me an idea of what I would be buying. Half of the reviews I found were negative, but me being hard headed I ordered it anyway and I am glad I did. I have had so much fun with this game, there is so much to do and there isnt alot of complicated controls to worry about.

-Pros
1. You can create and/or modify everything in the game
2. Decent for young kids and adults alike.
3. Very high replay value since nothing is ever the same.
4. No set paths that you have to follow, just use your imagination and just have fun.

-Cons
1. DRM (Digital Rights Management) Sucks and EA limits you to 3 activations before you have to call them and ask for extention.

Overall I am very happy with this title and I would suggest it to anyone who just wants a simple and fun game, whether you play or just create, its all up to you on how you want to do it. Enjoy :-)

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - A game not worth the price
The game IS fun. But not $[...] fun with only 4 installs maximum. If you really want to get this game, I would suggest waiting until the price goes down especially if the DRM is what it turning you off.

The DRM is not THAT big a deal, as I am sure in the future EA will allow for more call-in activations after the games initial hype has gone down. Overall the game is a great concept, but it is not worth $[...]. You progress much too fast through the ages, and the gameplay is extremely repetitive and dull. The most fun thing to do in this game is to just build creatures and compare them to other people creations; a feature probably worth about $[...], so you might as well just buy the creature creator if your wanting to buy this game to be creative.

All the people complaining about the DRM, just live with it. It will not be the end of the world. Yes it sucks; yes its a hassle. It shows that EA cannot find better ways to combat people illegally downloading their content that don't punish loyal buyers, but the product rights belong to them, and they are just trying to protect their interests so they can continue bringing in profits to develop games that are interesting to consumers such as Crysis, Battlefield, Need for Speed's (minus Pro-Street).

All in all, if you want the game buy it, ignore the DRM. I am sure in the future EA will have solutions for people wishing to install after 1-2+ years if you have exceeded the 4 installs. If you enjoy in-depth gameplay and want the game, it is not worth it at $[...], wait until the price drops or find a new game.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - cumbersome drm
The DRM on this game is overly cumbersome, preventing you from being able to personally play without extra hassle a game you paid good money for....
