Amazon.com Product Description:
If you need music that you can take with you on any rough and tumble adventure, look no further than the Sony ZS-H10CP CD Boombox. This tough unit is perfect for the job-site, workshop, or backyard, with a rugged and durable design that incorporates a water and dust resistant seal that protects it from the elements.

Durable, water-resistant, and rugged, the Sony ZS-H10CP is ready to provide the background music for your toughest jobs.
In addition to a big handle that makes it easy carry to any project, the ZS-H10CP features a protective safe guard bar that keeps it safe from stacking items and falling debris. You'll also find large controls for easy operation, even when wearing thick gloves. A high-impact plastic housing is designed for outdoor fun, with rubber gaskets, bushings and waterproof seals that help keep out water, moisture, and dirt. Plus, the boombox's footprint fits most shelves, allowing it to be easily incorporated into any tough environment.

But don't let the rugged design fool you; the ZS-H10CP is built to withstand the elements without sacrificing sound quality. A digital AM/FM stereo tuner provides accurate, drift-free tuning of AM and FM radio stations and lets you choose from the wide variety of radio talk shows and music programs, with the added enjoyment of stereo sound. The system also includes a line-in jack for digital music players so you can listen to your entire digital music collection via the boombox. And to really kick the sound up a notch, the ZS-H10CP features Mega Bass sound enhancement.

And for those with a big collection of CDs that make the workday more fun, the ZS-H10CP features a CD player with multiple play modes and ESP-2 anti-shock playback protection. Play modes let you listen to songs in sequence as recorded, in program (RMS) order, all tracks in random (shuffle) order, or a single track over and over. A four-line LCD screen keeps tabs on your track information, and SonicStage music software ships with the unit, so you can compile your own mix CDs.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - boombox
ok so this will sound wierd but I got this for my dog who is afraid of thunder. We had an old boom box that wore out so decided to get a new one. He says to tell you that this one is AOK. We also needed one for when out power goes out - which is often. So we are very happy with this purchase. - both dog and family. What more can you ask for???!!!

Ok so I did not tell you that when it thunders we try to get him to go to the basement - turn up the boom box on a classical station and turn on the washer (yes with clothes in it) and the dryer.

This works very well for him. In case you are interested his name is Sampson - he is a labrabor rescue dog and we have had him for about 6-7 years. He had this problem when he came to us and it took us quite some time to work it all out for him. He is now about 12-14. So if you care about dogs - please rescue one. And then get them neutered. THanks from us and Sampson .

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Not as robust as I hoped
I bouhgt this unit to use in less than ideal environments (outside, garage, around wet or dusty environments). The unit is heavier than I thought but it doesnn't feel especially sturdy. The plastic seems like it will break easily. Battery life is poor (maybe 8 hours on 6 "D" cells) and the sound volume is on the weak side. The sound quality, however, is good. For the price, I feel that it's overall performance is just not good enough. I considered returning it and I wish I had. If you are looking for something beside the pool, their are less expensive alternatives. If you are looking for something to bring to a worksite, I think you will be disappointed in the volume and battery life.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Not exactly what I wanted but works well enough.
This can be pro or con depending on the person but it is bigger and heavier (especially with 6 D batteries) than I expected. I know this was written in the specs but you just can't always imagine it from written descriptions. The sound is not as good as I expected but acceptable. The speakers are not as rugged as the rest of the unit. They are the typical indoor paper fiber material and not polypropylene or some similar water resistant material. This is a big problem since when a speaker gets damaged your investment is basically toasted. The rest of the unit is adequately water resistant with rubber buttons and covers.
The CD player plays my MP3 CDs very well but lacks a read ahead buffer to prevent skipping when being carried or moved. I use this on my boat. When lifting from one place to another the music stops and skips or stops altogether until the power is turned off and on again. Forget using it if the boat is moving over a little choppy water. This is a serious deficiency in my opinion for a boombox considered ruggedized. It is probably my fault but I also cannot find the ability to shuffle play as indicated in the specifications on Amazon.com.
Compared to anything else out there considered a rugged boombox with CD/MP3 playback, this is the best buy but only because of the lack of anything else competing with it. Sony should have done better.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Decent sound and durability
This radio has been subjected to a severe thunderstorm and is still working! The only complaint on it is the size. It's HUGE!!! Sounds good and is very durable.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Outstanding Boombox Stereo CD AM-FM Player
This is an outstanding product. Easy to use and work with, and outstanding sound. It even has Sound ports for the bass to bring out that right there sound. I own a bose acoustic wave portable, and this comes close to the sound quality of the bose.
