Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Good little camera
It's a good little pocket camera and meets my needs for an easy-to-carry camera with lots of features. I mainly bought it based on reviews from Amazon and have been satisfied so far. However, the usual description of "What's in the Box" was not there, so I unnecessarily ordered a charger for $44 just to be sure. There is one included with the camera. Maybe I can use the extra one when I leave the first one in a motel room somewhere.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - great looking, nice pictures
This is one sweet looking camera. The design is excellent. The built quality is very high. I have only taken a few shots with it so far, but they look very good, colorful and sharp. Image size is about 5MB at full resolution so you get about 800 images on a 4GB card. I am using the Sandisk Ultra II 15MB/s card which works great. Recommended.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Ditto, great camera, poor lens
Fully agree with the three star review. The lens is pretty mediocre. Away from the center the images are noticeably soft. The softness gets embellished at high ISOs because of the aggressive noise reduction but the softness is there even at ISO80 when there shouldn't be much NR. Probably part of the reason is the shutter speed/aperture is programmed to shoot at high shutter speeds so the lens is wide open most of the time, unless it is a really bright scene or you increase the ISO which brings in noise and NR. There doesn't seem to be any way to defeat this program except to go fully manual. For example, the camera sets 1/160s at f2.8. I'd rather go 1/60 and f4.5 and hold steady. Stopping down the lens should improve lens performance, but as I said you can't override the program. Pity, otherwise a nice camera, but again nice cameras are supposed to take sharp pictures, this one doesn't, so I will be more critical and give two stars.

Addendum: Just got a Canon PowerShot SD770IS 10MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Black) and shot the same scene at all ISOs as I did with the W300. Amazing difference! Even though SD770 is 10 MP, ressed up to 13.6 MP in Photoshop side by side with the W300 pictures you can clearly see the softness of the Sony lens. The general look of the Canon jpgs is nicer as well. At ISO80 there is no contest. At higher ISOs SD770 pictures are noisier, because Canon is not applying strong noise reduction, but as a result much crisper. Much prefer the look compared to the soft mush Sony gives.
I guess Sony really isn't targeting photographers at least in the PS category even though they bought Minolta, whereas Canon is a photographer's company.

Alienware's flagship gaming laptop, the Area-51 m9750, has plenty of appeal for high-end gamers, but the alien head aesthetic seems dated, and newer components are right around the corner.
