Amazon.com Review:You don't need a 6- gallon oil vat to enjoy deep- fried foods at home--this petite deep fryer makes four big servings with just 4 cups of oil. A compact 7 inches in diameter, the fryer features easy controls for precision frying: it automatically maintains the proper frying temperature, letting you focus on cooking instead of fussing with the controls. The fryer features a snap-on lid, so you can store oil right in the fryer for reuse. All surfaces are nonstick for tidy cleanup (the fryer is not dishwasher-safe and should never be completely immersed in water). A hand scoop is included with the fryer for easy stirring, lifting, and draining, and the 120-volt AC cord unplugs from the outlet, while the attached handle makes the fryer easy to move around the kitchen. The fryer has a two-year limited warranty.

Great Value
I wanted an inexpensive but functional deep fryer and this is exactly what it is. It's a big improvement from deep frying in a cooking pan, I don't have to worry about over heating the oil anymore but my house still stinks after deep frying. If that is a concern for you, then you better get one with filters. I also love the snap-on lid which allows me to conveniently store oil. I just wish there is an indicator light to tell when the oil is hot enough.

Fry Daddy is dangerous the oil splatters everywhere!!!
Recently bought the Fry Daddy and the oil was too hot because there is no temperature control. The oil splattered everywhere!!! I literally had to hold up a pot cover as a shield as my sister dropped in the food. Also the little spatula it came with is useless.

Happy Customer
I threw away an expensive deep fryer that I got at Bed, Bath and Beyond because it was junk! The lid wouldn't stay closed, it took a ton of oil, and it was messy. I decided to try this machine because I have always been happy with Presto products, and I have found that expensive is not always better. I really love this little guy - it's small, easy to store, clean in operation, and works like a charm. What else could I want? My other deep fryer did not get hot enough to make those chinese shrimp crackers - this one does! The only drawback I can even think of is if you make massive amounts when you deep-fry. This machine is sufficient size for a family of 1 to 4. My old deep fryer had temperature controls which were always set on max anyway. This machine just goes to the ideal temperature and stays there. Since it uses 4 cups of oil, it's easy to just pour the oil into a quart canning jar and keep it in the fridge. You can store it in the fryer if you want - but I didn't want to put the whole fryer in the fridge, and I don't like rancid oil.

functional but...
...I still recommend a fryer with adjustable settings to avoid overcooking, a wire basket that is convenient. Other products with lower price has the above additonal features.

What We Wanted
A simplistic approach to deep frying small amounts. For that purpose and this price, it's all you might need.
