nice add-on to pioneer avh-p4000dvd. recevies both HD and non-HD FM signals. the $50 mail-in rebate from HD Radio even made this accessory a real deal. thanks pioneer!

Love HD radio
I don't understand the negative reviews. But then I don't want to even bother with regular radio when I can have HD. Also with HD channels there seem to be less commercials, some with even no commercials. So BONUS!I have mine setup with the FH-P800BT and it works fine.

Very easy to install and use - does exactly what you want it to!
i bought this for my AVIC-D3 with the intention to upgrade to the new F90, once i got around to it. It comes with everything required, 2 power connectors and the i-bus cable. as i already had the sirius module(xm one on its way!) i just tapped into the power cables from the sirus module and chained in the ibus. it took in total about 10 minutes. 2 words of warning, 1) if you want to still use the standard FM and AM tuners of the head unit, you will require an antenna splitter. 2)if you have the module displayed on the head unit, but no sound, you have put the i-bus cables in the wrong way round!
Finally, i have upgraded to the AVIC-F90BT and this gives a much better user interface to the HD radio. With the AVIC-D3, you only get the EXT1 interface but with the F90 you get the same interface as standard FM, just a small observation, but i liked it a lot more. Fuctionality wise, there is no difference between the D3 or the F90BT

Garbage
Do not buy this unit unless you really really want HD radio. I installed this unit with the DVD4000. Unit works, was able to receive few HD channel. But I lost most if not all of my analog station. Even stations with strong signal was hard to receive and lots lots of interference and it's a punishment to listen to FM radio.( I live in San Francisco with many stations) Few HD radio sounds good but often with interference. About AM, I just lost everything. I can barely able to listen to 1050 ESPN, which was a very clear station before. I regretted so much that I installed this garbage in my car and I really hate to take everything apart again. I will not install this garbage even it's free. So disappointed with Pioneer. They could not make just a descent radio, not to mention a great one which I expected. I just could not believe Pioneer can come out with a piece of junk like this garbage radio. It's worse than a radio back in 1960, way worse.
p.s. I almost forgot about the nav. of this junk, you can't see the frequency, there is nothing with the 6 presets,(just 1 to 6, so please guess or remember them, also memorize the name of all the stations), you also have few options in the function menu and it shows: function 1
function 2
function 3
function 4
what it stands for? Guess, sucker.

Does a good job
I bought this HD tuner to go with the Pioneer DEH-3000IB head unit. I expected to lose all analog signal completely. I was pleasantly surprised! Not only am I getting all available HD stations, but am getting great analog reception as well(even without a splitter and manually switching signal mode). This was well worth the price of admission. Stations coming in HD sound incredible! I can't wait for some other local stations to get on board (and they've told me that they are soon). Easy to install and compact enough to fit easily inside the dash or out of the way with the provided velcro strips. The ibus cable and the power wires are sufficiently long to support an installation that can't be done near the head unit. TV is making the "big switch" and radio just got better.
