Editorial Review:

Album Description:
A TWO DISC SOUNDTRACK WITH MUSIC FOR THE PARTY . . . AND FOR THE MORNING AFTER.

Featuring APHEX TWIN BOW WOW WOW THE CURE GANG OF FOUR NEW ORDER THE STROKES and more!

Oscar-winning Sofia Coppola brings to the screen an imaginative interpretation of the life of France's legendary teenage queen Marie Antoinette. When betrothed to King Louis XVI (Jason Schwartzman), the naïve Marie Antoinette (Kirsten Dunst) enters the opulent French court which is steeped in conspiracy and scandal. Without guidance, adrift in a dangerous world, the young girl rebels against the isolated atmosphere at Versailles and becomes France's most misunderstood monarch. Based on the book Marie Antoinette: The Journey by Antonia Fraser.

Amazon.com:
Marie Antoinette may be a period film, but don't expect minuets: Sofia Coppola's candy-colored portrait of the doomed queen moves to a punk beat. Whatever you think of how that approach works in the movie itself, it makes for a bracing two-CD soundtrack that's like a mix tape put together by a DJ particularly attuned to the tastes of 2006, not 1786. A dominant chunk of the selection is made up of vintage postpunk tracks, from Siouxsie and the Banshees' 'Hong Kong Garden' to Gang of Four's 'Natural's Not in It,' from New Order's 'Ceremony' to the Cure's 'All Cats Are Grey.' The giddily fun Bow Wow Wow offers a counterpoint to all that seriousness with three songs (two of them, including the iconic 'I Want Candy,' remixed by My Bloody Valentine's maestro Kevin Shields). Newer contributions come from acts as diverse as retromongers the Strokes and avant-electronicists Aphex Twin and Squarepusher, while Dustin O'Halloran (half of the L.A. duo Devics) contributes three nice, Debussy-style piano solos. The most conventional choices of the lot are a pair of harpsichord pieces by Couperin and Scarlatti, as well as Vivaldi's 'Concerto in G,' a chestnut that's got to be in every single film set in the 18th century. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Love, love, love
Not only is the movie one of my faves but so is the soundtrack. I have an addiction to buying soundtracks and this one tops the list of my many. Its so good I'm using a few of the tracks for my wedding.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Just what I wanted!
I have been wanting this soundtrack for the longest time but unfortunatley after the movies release trying to find the soundtrack even 6 months later can be impossible. Amazon made it so simple with a few clicks it was on my way to my home no hassel at all! I will continue to shop at amazon for all my needs.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Price, Great Fast Service
The sound track I ordered, Marie Antoinette, arrived just as decsribed by the seller, and was in perfect, new condition. Thanks for the fast sevice. Killer sound track my the way! Enjoy!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A Great Collection of Music
I heart Sophia Coppola and her films. But I have always loved the soundtracks better than the movies. Maybe if she would apply the same attention to the film as she does the music, she would have a complete package.

These songs are a great blend of mellow, classical songs, as well as energized rock outs. If you are having a bad day, these cds will change your mood. The collection is strong and lively. And 2 cds for this price is a great deal.

The Strokes have my favorite song on the cd. I highly recommend for adventurous and eclectic tastes!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Musical Marie
Sophia Coppola does it again. Another amazing movie and a soundtrack to match. Valley girl sounds, mixed with alternative rock and orchesta melodies. The first disc is sassy with a majority of the danceable tunes, and disc two is what I listen to when I need to slow down and reflect. Similar to Coppola's first movie the Virgin Suicides, the soundtrack has songs that hit every mood. I can't believe I never heard of Air or Aplex Twins before these movies. It doesn't matter who is in the car, if I put on the Marie Antoinette soundtrack, everyone is bopping their heads and playing air drums to the beats, even my 57yr old mother. Hope she doesn't read this!

Sales of semiconductors in November indicate that consumer products such as LCD (liquid crystal display) TVs, digital music players, and other devices sold well during the holidays, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) said Monday.

November chip sales rose 2.3 percent year-on-year to $23.1 billion, the SIA said.

Unit demand has far outpaced last year. But falling chip prices have hurt industry revenue, the chip association said. For example, DRAM (dynamic RAM) bit shipments grew 25 percent in the three months through mid-December, but average selling prices have declined 20 percent over the same period.

The association also noted that rising energy prices and concerns about the sub-prime lending issue in the U.S. do not appear to have had a significant impact on consumer spending for the holidays, the SIA said. The group reiterated its forecast that worldwide semiconductor sales will reach a new record in 2007. But it will take a stronger than expected December selling season to reach the 3.8 percent growth goal the group had forecast earlier this year, the SIA said.

Investment banking firm Credit Suisse was not as optimistic as the SIA.

The November data was below normal seasonal trends, noted analyst John Pitzer, in a report on Monday. Even if December reaches its normal seasonal growth, 2007 industry revenue will only reach $255.7 billion, up 3.2 percent over last year. The growth percentage would fall short of the SIA's 3.8 percent target.

The slow November prompted Credit Suisse to lower its 2008 chip industry revenue forecast to 9.4 percent year-on-year growth, down from a previous target of 13 percent.
