Black History
I just want to say that I am glad that I ordered this DVD from Amazon. It is a very good and informative movie. I was getting ready to watch a DVD one night and this movie was one of the preview movies before my movie started. I don't even remember which movie it was on now. I did not know anything about the USS Mason and its crew until I ordered the movie and watched it. Ossie Davis, Darnell Williams and the other actors in the movie were astounding. This movie can also be used as something for Black History Month because it is Black History. In all, I think everyone should see this movie regardless of who you are.

They Made Us Proud
I served in the U.S. Navy during the Korea war. I know what shipboard life is like. The men on the Mason had it about as rough as it gets. One of the Navy's smallest ships on the roughest seas. They called this an experiment for the Navy. I don't know if the Navy claims to have proven their point, but those black sailors sure proved theirs. Considering the excellent job that those men did the Navy should have manned other ships with an all black crews. I'm white, and a southern boy at that, but we southerners recognize a job well done. And this makes me very proud of my black shipmates. You know the saying, YOU CAN"T KEEP A GOOD MAN DOWN.

Proud
This is an amazing story of several young African American men who help gain recognition to the older African American men who served on a Naval vessel who did remarkable voyages to help their country.

All America Should Be Proud
This is one of the best movies about World War 2 I have seen. It is a film that makes me very Proud to be a part of this great country. It is the story of a group of African Americans who fought for their country and fought against prejudice in the land of immigrants. It is so unfortunate that it took the United States Navy so long to recognize the valor and courage of these young men. I would recommend this movie anyone who is interested in the History of the our Great Nation, the United States of America.
