Product Description:
No more wondering or guessing. No more wasted trips to the mailbox only to find it empty. Let your Mail Chime tell you when your mail is delivered. You will love the convenience of knowing your mail has arrived. When the mailbox door is opened, a sensor on the mailbox door sends a signal to the Mail Chime in your home. The Mail Chime then tells you by a bright red LED light and four little audible beeps that your mail has been delivered. Works up to 300 feet. Long lasting 12-volt battery included. FCC approved.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Quite a step saver!
I had seen products of this type many years ago. So I searched to find one for our current need.

Recently we moved from a home where the mail was delivered to the door to an area with the traditional mailbox at the curb. The mailperson arrives at wildly different times during the day. This could potentially mean several long walks to the curb to see if the mail arrived.

This device works perfectly and solved the "long walk" problem.

Extremely easy setup and perfect performance.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - mail
Oh my! I can't say enough. This works like a charm. No more running out to mailbox to see if postal person has come. I ended up using superglue on the one out in the box. Found that it kept falling off into box, or? mailman was removing. It is in solid now, and I can change the batteries when I need. One of the best things I have bought for myself.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - mail chime
Hey everybody around 6:30 p.m. tonight me and my mom was in the living room watching tv there wasn't any mail today being Columbus Day and all all of a sudden the mail chime starts going off we knew there wasn't any mail today so there wasn't any reason for the mail chime to be going off my mom went around to the back door and she saw these three black teenage guys messing around our mailbox and she told them to leave our mailbox alone they looked at her funny and walked off down the street i'm glad we got this mail chime it really works great if it wasn't for the mail chime we wouldn't have known that anybody was messing around our mailbox i just wanted to share this with everybody if you worry about your mail getting stolen or somebody that's not supposed to be messing around your mailbox get this thing it works great.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Works well, but jarring volume requires resistor added
The volume is way too high for a quiet house, and I couldn't reduce it enough with tape over the audio holes.

I finally had to remove the cover and PC board in the receiver, and with a soldering iron push out the two large pins of the round alarm unit slightly. I worked the pin closest to the edge completely free, clearing the board by about 1/8 inch. After experimenting with resistor values, I finally soldered a 7500 ohm resistor between the mid-air pin and the hole it had been inserted in. The resistor lead runs over the edge to the other side from the alarm for insertion. This produces a perfectly audible muted volume.

Even if a pin on the audio alarm had been broken in the process, the bright LED that latches on until reset would probably be enough of a notice. However, if you are reasonably careful and work slow, this should not be a problem.

It would really help if they would add a potentiometer that could be adjusted through a hole in the box. This would add very little cost, but would make the unit much more acceptable to people without the skill to make this modification (i.e., the vast majority of consumers).

That said, this is a useful product that saves a lot of time. Volume preference is very much a matter of personal preference and environment, so the full volume may be acceptable as is to some people.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great mailbox alert system
I've had this mailbox alert system for 2 weeks now and it has worked flawlessly. Like other reviewers stated the chime is rather loud. But I simply put a piece of clear scotch tape over the chime's sound holes and quieted it down instantly. My alert system works every time. I'm also impressed with the o-ring that seals the battery compartment to keep moisture out. My mailbox is about 30 feet from the house and I have no signal problems. I keep the base unit just inside my front door. The small red light is suprisingly bright too. This item will be especially great in bad weather so that I don't waste unnecessary trips to the mailbox. Now 2 of my coworkers want to order one of these because I keep bragging about it.
