Tad, Leap, and Lily hop from the pages of the amazingly popular Leap Pad learning toys onto the television screen in this attention grabbing phonics program. Tad's disappointment at being unable to help his family with an important presentation at the letter factory quickly turns to excitement when he meets Professor Quigley and joins each of the letters of the alphabet in their own fun-filled classroom devoted to learning their unique sound. Tad practices karate kicks with the k's, digs the vibes with the cool cat d's drumming on the bongos, and snores peacefully with the z's while learning to recognize each letter and the sound it makes. A catchy, fun song serves as a summation of each letter's 'class' and entices even the most reluctant of toddlers (and their parents) to sing each letter's sound. An interactive game follows the program and gives children a chance to practice their newfound skills of recognizing letters and their sounds. Consumers expect great educational products from LeapFrog and this DVD won't disappoint. (Ages 2 to 5) --Tami Horiuchi

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - 2-year-old learned the alphabet in 2 weeks!
What an engaging, educational product this is! I've taken this dvd on many long road trips and my daughter never tires. Within TWO WEEKS, she identified with all the letters. Not simply the sounds but she knows what each and every letter is. I was blown away.

The only negative I can think of is for the "w" letter, the letter speaks in slang with "waz happenin' dude!" (I'm no fan of the word "dude"!) In another clip, the professor was tasting popcorn and commented that it needed salt. As a result, in a later scene, the student frog mentioned salt, obviously having learned "salt" is a treat. With childhood obesity on the rise, I'm not sure it's too keen promoting salt! But by no means would this land my review one less star.

I can't rave enough of this product. My review title says it all. I have spread word among playground chatter and to all my parent friends. This is not to be passed up. If your child doesn't know the alphabet, this dvd will surely teach them. The Leap Frog Fridge Phonics are a great accompaniment to it.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Contains errors! Needs improvement.
I suspect that a lot of the parents who gave this video a good review did not watch ALL of it with their child. The video is visually entertaining and fun, but the spoken part needs to be redone. It simply is incorrect about how to pronounce some of the letters. L shouldn`t be pronounced ``Uhl`` but they say it that way over and over, and the R shouldn`t be said ``er`` and so on. Also, in every case, only the short vowel sounds are taught, A as in apple, not A as in ate. When I taught phonics, we told kids that every vowel says its name, plus another sound. It isn`t hard to teach that, and it is really important. Worst of all, few examples are given of how the letters actually sound in words. For example, they show us a letter M saying ``m m`` but they don`t bother to say a single M word. My 3 year old loves watching the video and playing the little game that comes with it, but I wish it were better.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Love Letter Factory!
My 2 year old has learned the letters! What can I say...this is a great DVD... Beware however....you might start singing along. The songs get stuck in your head!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great Learning Tool
I bought this for my 3.5 year old after hearing about it from friends and reading so many great reviews.
My daughter loves it and she often asks to watch 'professor Quigley' over and over again. I have found her reciting the letters and sounds to herself before she goes to bed at night.
The reason why I didn't give this 5 stars is because of one thing. When teaching the L sound, it is not very clear and both my daughter and I hear 'O'. When we get to that part, she would ask me why are they saying 'O' when it's 'L'.
Other than that, I'd recommend it to all parents of preschoolers.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Daughter loved it
Great movie. And educational. Daughter loves it and parent's don't mind it. I would highly recommend it!
