Editorial Review:Amazon.com Product Description:The 2.2-megapixel Kodak DX3600 digital camera is similar to the DX3500, with several great additional features, including a 3x optical zoom (plus 2x digital zoom) and movie mode. It handles like a point-and-shoot, and delivers excellent quality images at a maximum resolution of 1,800 x 1,200 pixels--perfect for e-mailing or prints up to 8-by-10 inches. The DX3600 contains 8 MB of internal memory, plus it features a CompactFlash expansion slot for additional memory. Part of the Kodak EasyShare System, this model includes a docking station. The dock will upload your photos straight from the camera to your computer at the push of a button, and it recharges the camera batteries while connected to your camera.
The DX3600 offers continuous video with audio. It comes with a built-in microphone and speaker, and allows you to capture and review video with audio right on the camera. You can also connect the camera to a computer or a TV to watch your video footage. This camera comes with two AA lithium batteries, video cable, USB cable, wrist strap, Kodak Picture software CD, documentation, and a custom camera insert for optional Kodak camera dock. It has a USB port and is compatible with both Windows and Macintosh systems.

Shutter Problems...
This camera worked great for about 6 months. Humidity caused it to goof up and restart itself a lot (setting time and date back) until it finally has stopped working all together. Real easy to use and all but what a pain if you live in humid weather. :(

Nice camera but software is not easy to use
Nice camera. Takes great pictures that we can develop at Coscos or other outlets. Its just a shame that the software is so difficult to use

Another winner from Kodak!
I bought this Kodak DX3600 camera as a DEMO model from a chain store and it works perfectly! It was missing a cable and I called Kodak customer service and they immediately sent me a free replacement--and this is for an open-box purchase. I also have a DX3500 with which I took 6,000 pix in about a year, and it is still going strong. I bought this one for the fun video clip feature and the optical zoom. I was pleasantly surprised to find the closeup feature on the 3600 model takes superb photos in amazing detail of the flowers in the arboretums I visit, and closups of the kids. I use Kodak rechargeable batteries--no docking station, and also the Energizer blue and silver photo AA batteries with up to a 256MB compact flashcard. The camera is great and so is the Kodak customer service!

Very Poor Battery Life= Very Poor Camera
We have had nothing but frustration with the battery problems associated with this product. If a camera is one thing it has to be reliable. For the past months we have used the Kodak as our sole camera only to find that we have constant problems with the batteries charging improperly. We contacted Tech Support and checked the website and found that this was a documented problem (TIB4324). I did what they said to do - if you see the green light, lift the camera up and put it back down again for a total charge of 2 hours when the light is red. I proceeded to pick the camera up and down in excess of 20 times on multiple occasions and have not yet gotten a full charge. I would also like to point out the we are forced to do this each time we charge, not only the "first time the batteries are charged", like the bulletin states. Who has this kind of time? The proposed remedy is completely ineffective. A person cannot be expected to "babysit" your product, simply because it is defective. Kodak has sent us new batteries and we have used different Ni-MH batteries, but after a very short time, the camera still shuts down. We have now sent the camera back to be serviced again by Kodak and are wishing we never purchased it in the first place!

Reliability a Keynote
I purchased a DX3600 for specific work in genealogical research. I needed a camera able to cope with lots of work and the DX3600 has fully met all my needs. In the past three months I have taken over 10,000 images, all of which have been faultless, and the camera has not missed a beat. It is so simple to use and to download. I would highly recommend it to anyone needing a reliable digital camera with high output of quality images.
