Amazon.com Review:The Kodak DC-240 offers high-quality resolution and professional imaging features in a simple, compact package. This digital camera has one of the most user-friendly interfaces we've seen--instead of cryptic menu text, it offers a colorful, easy-to-understand menu in plain English. We especially liked the fact that all the buttons--and even the outputs and inputs--are clearly labeled, something that other cameras sometimes lack.
The Kodak DC-240 comes with an 8 MB removable CompactFlash memory card, which stores about 100 images at the lowest resolution and highest compression (or 16 at the highest-quality settings). At 1280 x 960 pixels, the Kodak DC-240 gave us high maximum resolution, although not quite as high as the 1600 x 1200 cameras we tested. It also offers 640 x 480 compression, good enough for online or e-mailed photos. Unlike most of the other digital cameras we tested, the Kodak DC-240 lets you set the compression (good, better, best) separately from the resolution. It also lets you enhance the edges of a photo (using the sharpness setting) to make it easier to cut or crop the photo in an image-editing program.
The Kodak DC-240 lets you capture images using a variety of special effects, including black and white, sepia, and document. The document mode is rather unique and especially good for capturing text. It also lets you add a variety of preset borders with themes such as Birthday, Wedding, Youth, and more--good for picture-album-type images. It comes with all the connectors and software you need to download images and perform basic photo-editing tasks (rotating, cropping, and more).
The only drawbacks we found were that the LCD image was jerky and the exposure fluctuated too quickly as we tried to frame our photo. While these drawbacks won't matter when you frame your final photo, they did take some getting used to.
Pros: - High (1280 x 960) resolution
- Easy-to-use interface
- Wide range of special effects
- Compact size

Only wish they still made them like this...
This was my first and only digital camera that I purchased as a display item will I was working at CompUSA. If I remember correctly, at the time this camera was over $300 but I got it for $50.
I have no idea how old this camera was when I bought it, but despite that, it lasted an additional 3 1/2 years before it stopped working; the battery connections went bad. I took it apart to see if I could fix it, but to no avail.
The 1.3 Megapixels was more than sufficent for me, it took crystal clear pictures everytime. I really enjoyed the LCD screen that showed in real time what the lens was looking at before you shot the picture. It also had a USB slot where you could easily tranfer the pictures to your PC. My only compaint about the camera was that the picture snapping was not instantaneous.
This camera felt sturdy and built with quality materials. This camera had been dropped a few times, but it still functioned without any problems. I have taken thousands of pictures on this camera, not to mention the possible thousands that were taken before I came to own it, and I have been thourghly suprised with the durablity and quality of this camera.
After my DC240 finally met its demise, I was dissapointed to find that Kodak no longer made cameras like this, instead they make these plastic, cheap looking, cheap feeling cameras that feel no way as sturdy as the DC series. I purchased a DX model a few months after this one died and took it back the next day because I was very dissapointed in the quality of the camera. To this day the DC240 has been my only digital camera and I haven't had one since. I will have to turn to EBAY to get something from the DC series, because unfortunately companies no longer make them like they used to.

Great for first time Digital Camera users!
The main aspect of this camera is it's user friendlieness. It has a basic design, and easy for capture & review. This was my second, and i couldn't stand it. You had to go through file after file to get them onto the computer. With this camera, it iss hard at first, but after you do it once, you can't froget, like riding a bike! Although it isn't the most technological and it doesn't have super excellent quality, it is perfect for the everyday user. I hope you enjoy it like i did!

Great Starter Camera
I have had this camera for about 18 months. It has done a fabulous job and has been a good starter camera. The quality of photos when printed is astonishing. Full page prints are clear...makes me wonder how a 2.1+ megapixel camera could do much better.
Indoor photo's have a reddish tint due ot lighting if you don't use the preset tungsten adjustment. However, if I forget to switch over to this adjustment, digital photos are easy to correct/edit with a photo editor.
I have taken hundres of pictures and am totally satisfied with this product.
TIP: With digital cameras (probably all cameras) it is extreemly important to hold the camera perfectly still. This becomes more importatn the further away your subject is.
Great camera...buy it!

Price AND quality
The Kodak DC240 is great. The menu and features on the camera itself are very easy to use, and there are some added features that i really like. The lcd screen can be turned on and off to show the picture about to be taken w/special effects that were set (e.g. black & white) and has a digital zoom of 2X, which is very neat to be able to zoom in on things, getting two times closer than with the naked eye. The camera has video output, which i havnt gotten working yet, dc output, which i havnt gotten working yet either, i think it takes a special dc cord... and aside from those two the other main flaw is the cord to connect w/the computer that it comes with. When connected the software takes almost a full minute to display 1 picture for editing etc, which is just simply too long. I have the serial cable which came with it, but i suspect the usb will be much faster, i recommend buying it as an accesory. Otherwise, the software works great, lets u auto enhance the picture, making it brighter etc, or you can edit it in microsoft paint, cut and paste and do whatever. very cool. I would really recommend buying it because if you go all out and spend a thousand dollars on a great 6.w/e megapixle camera, you will be very disappointed because in 4 months you can get the same camera at $400... when i buy electronics i go halfway, that is to say i buy a good product that isnt TOP quality, but very affordible. this camera is great for that reason... the picture quality is just FINE. i find it better than a non digital camera, and in the pc/mac software you can zoom in even more, showing off its digitalness by holding a steady sharpness that is great. the only difference between this camera and a top quality camera is really, just the amnt of megapixles. i find this camera to be everything i need and more, even if it has under 1.5 mp!
