Editorial Review:Amazon.com:Despite its mirror-ball packaging,
The Disco Box presents the music as it was heard on AM radio, not in clubs. The 80 tunes are well-chosen, but almost all are heard in their single-edit version rather than in the often cathartic extended tracks that were one of the form's trademarks. Also, some of disco's best-loved divas (Loleatta Holloway, Taana Gardner) are left out of this history. Still, for those whose record collections don't represent one of pop's most glorious, insane (try 5000 Volts' 'I'm On Fire'), inspiring moments, these four CDs are a worthy primer.

Not Complete, But....
Rhino's DISCO BOX can easily be dismissed as incomplete due to the fact that there are no Bee Gees cuts (hey record companies will not let Rhino license EVERYTHING), and 95% of the songs are presented in their AM-radio 7" 45 R.P.M. lengths. However, with the dazzling array of material here and the very infomative and colorful 60-page booklet, the folks at Rhino have done an excellent job in capturing this important musical genre. Think of this stellar collection as a supplement to your Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.

Decent collection...
I had purchased the Time Life Disco Box (8 CDs). Sound quality compared with this is the same, both are marvelous. I saw a lot of repeats on this box, but ordered it just to be complete. Indeed there are 32 different tracks on this collection. If you are a completist, get the Time Life set, otherwise this is a perfect introduction or smaller box for the Disco in you. CD 4 has too many '80s tracks for my taste, I would have preferred to see more '70s tracks from disco's prime-time on this set.

We're bumpin' booties, havin' us a ball, y'all.
This is an awesome collection of 80 disco songs. Most of the best known disco songs are included (with the exception of anything by the Bee Gees), but the collection also includes a few lesser known (but very good) songs. It's tempting to call this the "definitive" disco collection, but of course something of this nature is bound to miss a few things. So I will just say that this is a great collection that disco fans will enjoy.

Disco Memories
I was in high school when the disco craze hit. This collection is feel good music with inside information about what disco was and was all about. You'll recognize favorites like "Knock on Wood" and "I Love the Nightlife" and of course, who can forget KC & the Sunshine Band? I enjoy listening to these CD's driving home from a hectic day at work. If you need good memories to stir up inside you, slip these CD's into the player.
