I've used several different brands of radar detectors in my vehicles over the last 15 years. I was using a Laser brand detector and it works tremendously. I've picked up police radar up to 3 miles away with the Laser. I thought I'd try the Cobra when I saw it on sale. I am very disappointed with it. Other than the compass feature ... I wouldn't waste my money on a Cobra. By the time it detects a police vehicle with radar, I can already see it, which is too late. Sometimes they are within a few hundred feet and they aren't using instant on, either. At best, I've picked up a police vehicle 4 tenths of a mile away, which when traveling toward each other, gives you as much time to react as if you drove 2 tenths of a mile - or about 1000 feet! I use to have a Uniden. That too, was a tremendous unit and my spouse still uses it. If you're in the market for a radar detector, stay away from Cobra! Unfortunately, I've always been a huge fan of Cobra electronics. ... I doubt I'll ever buy any other Cobra product. Go with Uniden or Laser!

Best value radar detector that detects everything available in police nowadays PLUS more! It gives emergency vehicle signals, which is really helpful if you dont hear it coming!

I like the Cobra radar to an extent but, for the most part its ok. See, it takes along time to pick up the signals and by the time it picks up the signals there is the cop, but that is not on only the case. It is effective sometimes but not all of the time.
