No wireless printing
Very pleased with printer with a major exception. It does not print wirelessly with a router of any sort. The technology has been in printers for years now. I had an HP printer that is at least 5 years old that prints with a router wirelessly. I'd love to get a different printer with this technology, however, Consumer Reports rated this printer #2 and the trouble of returning to Amazon.com is not worth the trouble of shipping costs.

Mine went back to Amazon
This printer was huge. It took up every last bit of available space on my desk. It was sure impressive looking.
At 29 days after purchase, the magenta ink cart wasn't recognized by the printer. It was almost full. At this point, the printer wouldn't do anything, no scanning, no nothing. The print quality, while it was working, was extraordinary. I was more than pleased with the photos printed, as well as scanned. I give the photos that it let me print 5 out of 5 stars. However, I will not spend my valuable time messing around with ink carts. I have no patience for that. My old Lex Z55 lasted 5 years and all I had to do was slap in the 2 carts and go for broke.
From reading lots of other reviews on this printer, the magenta cart fails within 30 days and you call Canon and they send you a new cart. I think they must have put a bad batch of computer chips on the magenta carts in with the included with purchase ink carts, just to get rid of them. Then, when a purchaser calls and complains, they promptly send a new one. Just on principal, I think this is a bad deal for consumers and I am not supporting a manufacturer that does this. I could have called and got my new cart and kept the printer, but instead, I packed that sucker back up and requested an RMA from Amazon to come get it, which they did, free of charge. Now I am looking for another decent printer, that will either be another Lexmark or an HP. Never again, Canon. I won't ever purchase one other electronic anything from your company. Bad business, all the way around. Don't buy this printer.

Great Printer for the Technically Challenged
I wanted a new printer to use for a multitude of tasks.. the primary of which was to go with the new camera I purchased to print pictures. I found it easy to use and the quality of prints is wonderful. Only thing I can 'complain' about is the ink cartridges. Seems expensive to replace and not the easiest ones to find (I can't find the info on the box or in the instructions, I am going to have to open the printer and look at the ink cartridges to know which ones I need when they get low). Other than that, I highly recommend.

Better than I expected
I bought the MP610 a few weeks ago, because I was offered a nice rebate on it at the store where I bought a new computer. It was my choice from among a limited selection of printers there. I decided what the heck, the net price after rebate was quite low for a 3-in-1 machine and I'd try it out.
My MP610 is performing better than I expected. I use it for document copying and printing. I'm delighted with how quietly it operates, and with its automatic duplex printing feature. I'm also happy with the quality of the printing.
I rarely print photos at home, so I don't know how well the MP610 prints photos. I haven't scanned any photos on it yet, although I've used both the black/white and color copy functions and they are fast and sharp.
Overall, I'm very happy with this printer. It replaced my old HP Officet 7130xi, a multifunction machine that is much bigger, heavier, louder and clunkier than the MP610.
UPDATE on May 30, 2008: Now that I've used it longer, I like the MP610 even better. I really appreciate the second paper tray (cassette) located at the bottom front of the machine. I have that tray loaded with blank envelopes, so that I can print them without specially feeding each envelope or removing the main load of blank paper.

The quality of the prints is great. it uses less ink than my previous printers. The only problem is that it does so many things that you have to study all the instructions, which by the way are very clear.
