    Amazon.com Product Description:

The small but powerful 7-volt battery is the cornerstone of the VPX system.

This charger and battery work together to help power any product in the VPX line (of those requiring only one 7-volt battery; some products require two).
Introducing the VPX Lithium-Ion Battery System
Black & Decker's advanced, powerful VPX system guarantees the convenience of a rechargeable battery with maximum versatility. At the center of the VPX system is the 7-volt high-energy VPX rechargeable battery, which features breakthrough lithium-ion technology to generate more energy in a smaller package. The end result is a battery that's super-compact and 60-percent lighter than Black & Decker's Ni-Cad power tool batteries. And the VPX holds a charge longer, too -- so it's ready to work whenever you are.

With its versatile design and Black & Decker exclusive technology, a VPX battery is interchangeable with all the products in Black & Decker's growing VPX line. Swap out one battery for the flashlight, inflator, screwdriver, USB power source, cut saw, or 7-volt drill driver; or double the juice with two batteries to operate the 14-volt drill driver or the hand vac. And of course, every VXP battery and compatible product features the rugged, dependable construction you expect from an industry leader in home power tools.

Meet the Two Centerpieces of the VPX System
It’s time to re-tool with the new VPX interchangeable lithium-ion battery system, and this is where you start. This durable, portable, powerful 7-volt battery and charger combo serve together as the very cornerstones of the revolutionary new VPX interchangeable lithium-ion battery system. And once you get started with the VPX system, it's easy to expand with other power tools, household devices, and electronic products. This battery's advanced technology is created to offer the most in performance in a lightweight, compact piece that holds a charge longer and offers a steadier power output. And all of Black & Decker's VPX products are powered by either a single 7-volt battery or two 7-volt batteries like the one included with this set.

The VPX product line debuts with a broad family of home and workshop tools, including two drills (one 14-volt and one 7-volt model), a 14-volt hand vac; and a 7-volt screwdriver, cut saw, air inflator, power source and a flashlight. Next year and beyond, Black & Decker will be rolling out additional power tools, plus home, kitchen, and cleaning products -- not to mention electronics, technology, and yard-maintenance devices. The VPX system incorporates cutting-edge product style with striking aesthetics and a truly comfortable ergonomic design. And since they're all created to combine the highest in form and function, the VPX products perform as every bit great as they look. Because the VPX battery is interchangeable between the VPX products -- once you dip your toes into the system with a VPX charger and batteries, you can expand your collection to include all the VPX products you need at a real cost savings.

    Warranty
This VPX product is covered by a two-year warranty from Black & Decker.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - charging season, is here again.
Despite not owning the drill that this battery charger belongs to, my father was asking me to buy him this charger for Christmas, and so I did. And although he doesn't use it, it seems like it will work to charge the battery pack fully, every once-and-a-while.

    Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A necessity.
Its great to have a back up battery for whatever cordless device you're using. These are a must have....

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - battery and charger
Wanted a drill for small jobs. The battery charger is small and battery is light.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - VPX is awesome! This is the best tool system I've owned.
IMHO, VPX is a revolution in tool design. I was so excited when I saw these tools. This system has what I consider to be the best industrial design you can find in the consumer tool market. I started with the inflator and since then I've bought and tested all the different components except for the USB/Inverter.

I find the tools to have plenty of power and its very useful to have a common battery as well as one thats ready to go when you need it! They also take a lot less space than my old tool system which my wife always thought took a lot of space. My VPX setup takes half the space and does more! This one is a keeper!

We've covered in too much detail how it's some sort of "open season" on Vonage when it comes to VoIP patents. After dealing with ridiculous and expensive patent lawsuits from companies who failed to actually innovate in the same way Vonage did, the company was pressured by Wall Street to quickly settle the various patent lawsuits filed against the company. Of course, rather than settle matters, that simply opened the door for other companies to go searching through their patent portfolios to see if there was anything they could sue Vonage over. Indeed, following those settlements it didn't take long for AT&T to dig up a patent and sue -- which was quickly settled as well. Thought things were over? No such luck. Nortel just showed up last month to sue and it took all of about a week and a half for Vonage to settle that case as well.

The Nortel case is slightly different because Vonage actually already had a patent infringement lawsuit going against Nortel, but it wasn't really initiated by Vonage. Instead, it had been initiated by a patent holding firm that Vonage bought in 2006. The end result of the settlement doesn't involve money changing hands, but just a cross licensing agreement for the patents. So what's the big lesson that Vonage and others have learned from this? It's certainly got nothing to do with innovating. It's to hoard as many patents as possible so that you have your own nuclear stockpile for when someone else sues you. Want to know why the USPTO is overwhelmed? It's not because there aren't enough examiners (as some will claim) or that there aren't enough funds. It's because the way the system now works is that you are supposed to file patents on every tiny little advancement so you can use it to protect yourself against lawsuits from everyone else. That's not about innovation. It's about waste. In the meantime, since it's still open season at Vonage, who's going to be next? There are a ton of other patents in the VoIP space that can surely be used in a lawsuit, right?
